Having a birthday of July 4th tends to influence one to be patriotic. As a young child, my birthday celebrations always included fireworks and a family picnic. It was very special to share my birthday with the birthday of my country, the very best in the world.

Some of my earliest memories were of war-time. Blackouts, submarine nets in the harbor in Seattle, troops of marching soldiers in training, and news reels of information on the war were very ominous to a small child.

Our family has served in the military over the years, from uncles in the Navy and Army, to my son serving 11 years in the Air Force, including duty in England and the NATO base in Oslo, Norway. Growing up as an Army "brat", Warren later served 9 years in the Navy in both Atlantic and Pacific fleets.

With this emphasis on the military and the love for this nation in our family, it was only natural that we would include a theme page for this important part of our lives. All the branches of service and additional patriotic memorabilia will be included as we search for meaningful products that follow a patriotic theme.
